the cell membrane helps with the transportation of materials the cell needs that it cant make.
there are two kindsa of transport passive and active.
passive transport is the movement of materialsthrough the membrane without the use of cellular energy. diffusion and osmosis are active transport.
active transport uses cellular energy to move materials through the cell membrane. endocytosis and exosytosis are active transport.
without the cell membrane thee cell would not be able to get the materials it needs and it would die.
diffusion- solutes movement from high areas of concentration to low areas of concentration.
osmosis- solvents movement from high to low concentration.
endocytosis- the cell membrane changes shape to engulf particles.
exocytosis- vaculoes fuse with the membrane to expel large particles.
